Joseph Cela

Joseph Cela is primarily a street photographer and fortunate that he has the streets of New York City for inspiration.  He was raised in the South Bronx and is of Puerto Rican descent.  His shots are not planned – He walks and explore the many parts of the city with my Leica Q hoping to discover “frame-able moments”.   He tries to express the variety of what the street offers in his photography – the beautiful, the bizarre, the brutal.  He finds that this suits his passion as the subject matter is always diverse.  In many ways he feel as though he is still learning to see, and that to him is most important. The ability to stand back and absorb a moment is something many of us rarely do as we go about our day.  However, if you take a moment and open yourself up to that – the observance of things – there is beauty there to capture.
