Anahid Ypres
Born in Iran in 1984 and raised in an Armenian family, Anahid Ypres grew up in a rich multicultural environment that continues to shape her art. After moving to Armenia as a teenager, she pursued formal studies at the Panos Terlemezyan State College and the Academy of Fine Arts of Yerevan. Her experiences living in France and later in the United States added further depth to her cultural perspective. Now based in Providence, Rhode Island, Anahid works primarily with oil, acrylic, clay, and glazes, letting her instincts guide her choice of materials. Her vibrant, abstract work captures distorted visions of daily life, landscapes, figures, and still lifes, celebrating the beauty of the everyday with exaggerated color and form.
“I am still in search of my unique voice, I try very different subjects and very different ways to execute and present them. I like my viewers to wander through my paintings, find something that no one else did and keep searching”
